Trade deadline looms...

How can this team be improved via trade?

I think the buy or sell question is moot at this point. The Astros need another bat, maybe Mark Teahen from KC? He's a super utility guy - plays the corners, second and outfield. I'd send them Kaz Mat for him. We could bring Edwin Maysonet back up from Round Rock to man second and release Jason Michaels to make room for Teahan. What do you think? A young effective starter would be nice, but I like our old guys. Plus if one breaks down, Chris Sampson could slip right in.

The Kansas City trade is an intriguing thought, and as a Cardinal fan I would veto that trade if I had the ability.

Then again, as a Cardinal fan, I also welcome the Astros aging rotation. Although you like your old fogies, I think we both know a young arm is warranted. I just hope it doesn't happen and good ol' Roy goes down. Muhahahaha.

I'm actually salivating on my keyboard over Teahen right now. Much better option than Jason Michaels, who must be Ed Wade's god-son to still be with the team. I'd even start him at second. It'd be like Ty Wigginton who we picked up a couple years back. Solid, if not flashy.

You can talk junk about Lefty, Moe and Curly, but you leave Roy-O alone! If God shall smite Roy's body, may the same be revisited 10-fold upon Carpenter's shoulder! I love getting all biblical.

We do have a couple of live, but green, arms at Round Rock in Bud Norris and Yorman Bazardo that some say are just about ready. It'd be nice to develop another Wandy(or two) rather than gut the farm for a Big Unit, circa 1998.
